I accept the rat race that ensues is by my choice.  If I don't like what happens, its up to me to change it...  blaming others is a waste of time. You have to want it to change and then do something about it. Writing in a journal can be beneficial even if it's just for the sake of recapping your day- remembering the little things that made you happy and sad.
