Rage is one of my FAVORITE bands and I've seen them twice. They are not an act to be missed!

Re: Summer Festivals

Ok call me a Hippie too! My love for the music & art festivals started back in high school when my family and friends used to travel to the HBCU Classic's like Circle City in Indianapolis and travel to Summerfest in Milwaukee. I have been one party going sister ever since.

Don't forget to include the best festival I ever been to: Caribana in Toronto, Canada in August! Also, check out the Taste Fest in Chicago (my fave city!), Black Expo Weekend in Indianapolis, the big Tom Joyner family reunion in Orlando, and if you just wanna wild out with no music the Bike Week in SC.

have fun!

Re: Summer Festivals

I totally agree that you should attend summer festivals. I just saw Corrine Bailey Rae and John Legend at the Beale Street Music Festival in Memphis last weekend. The tickets were only $25, but I saw them for free because I worked as a volunteer. Volunteering has its perks.

Re: Summer Festivals

Don't forget Rock The Bells this July (I think). Def. not one to miss, you get to see Rage Against The Machine perform (incredible live), Heiroglyphics, Nas, The Roots, Pharohe Monch, etc.

And Essence is also one to see this summer. It'll be the first time the fest will be back in the NO since Katrina, so you know the vibe is going to be ridiculous...and if you've never seen Frankie Beverly and Maze close the fest, then you've never seen a show (in my humble opinion).

Be there!

:)

Re: Summer Festivals

Great post Gloc. You are inspiring me to branch out this summer! Who knows, I might even find a new artist to replace one that's more offensive. Minus one, plus one.
